In Summer 2000,
Darksilver Records America launched Thrill Element, a major side project of Michael Lee
Thomas. Thrill Element was
conceived in 1999 to develop and feature material composed with a more New Age /
Ambient
style. The cuts are produced in the same studio as Michael's other
projects.
Thrill Element features deep eclectic and ethereal Soundscapes. With elements of rhythmic layering, the songs are awash in complex New Age textures. Fragile percussives and tasteful low end foundations compliment the overall presence of a smooth, spatial environment. Some pieces are atmospheric while others lean toward a light Jazz Fusion. A different side of Michael Lee, in certain ways reflective of his earlier New Age releases.
Although a side effort, Michael Lee is pursuing Thrill Element with full force and vigor. In 2000, the project debut CD, 'Navadeen Protocol', was released with immediate critical acclaim. In 2001, 'Surreal Dream', the second CD was released and the third CD, Chasing Light', followed in 2002, with 'Time Climate', the fourth disc, making it's debut in 2003. The fifth Thrill Element CD 'Living Shadows', was released on-line in January 2006, and 'Thoughts Through Water', the Sixth Thrill Element CD, was released on-line May 29, 2007, on the Thrill Element Soundclick.com. site. 'Contrast In Darkness', the Seventh CD set for a late Summer 2008 debut. Songs from each of the first Six Thrill Element CDs have placed in the Top Forty of the Soundclick.com World / New Age and Ambient charts, with several cuts reaching #1. Now recognized worldwide as much more than a side project, Thrill Element has become a viable musical endeavor worthy of individual focus.
